The design of the ARNES network allows rapid adjustment to the needs of the research and education community for powerful communications connections. Connections between network PoPs are built on the basis of leased optical fibres that enable practically unlimited connection capacity.
Network flexibility is achieved by the use of DWDM and CWDM technologies which enable the transmission of multiple simultaneous communications connections over a single fibre. Relatively simple interventions allow us to add new gigabit and 10-gigabit connections between individual PoPs as required.
